The Gansey Workbook
This pdf book is taken from the workshops I have done on the Traditional Knitting and the EZasPi yahoo groups.
The book explains how the tradition of gansey knitting came about round the coast of the UK, and the techniques associated with it. There are lots of charted stitch patterns along with several complete patterns using those patterns in both the traditional 5 ply and other yarns.
Of particular interest is the large section describing, with many illustrations and charts, what type of ganseys were knitted where, including the areas left out by earlier authors.

Gansey Design Workshop
This came out of a workshop I did for the On-line Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers. It goes through the process of designing any sweater from choosing the yarn and pattern, making a swatch, and translating the ideas into the final garment. Pitfalls are identified, along with ways of avoiding them! Suggestions for adapting to a wide variety of body shapes are given.

That Splendid Band and Knitting, Always Knitting
That Splendid Band was first published in Scottish Memories and looks at the life of the gutters on the Orkney island of Stronsay, one of the biggest stations in the North. Knitting Always Knitting was first published in Interweave Knits. It looks at the knitting of the gutters — what they wore, what they knitted and how.
Both articles have been expanded and extra photos have been added.
